Melanotan II is discussed as a nonselective melanocortin-receptor research agonist used in receptor validation, structure–activity comparisons and structural studies. A mouse nucleus-accumbens experiment reported lower food-related responding without observed taste avoidance or metabolic-rate changes. A separate stressed-rat study measured differences in sucrose preference, weight gain, adrenal mass and hippocampal BDNF, but found no group difference in forced-swim immobility. These are model-specific observations rather than demonstrated effects of the supplied product in people.
